Students may enroll at any time. There is no registration or processing fee.
Classes are offered in half hour (once a week) or one hour (once a week) formats. We can also make special arrangements, such as two half-hour classes per week.
Monthly tuition for four week months is $100 for one half hour lesson per week; and $180 for one full hour lesson per week, or two half hour lessons per week. For the months with five weeks, the tuition is $125 and $225.
For families with more than one student enrolled, or for students who take more than one lesson per week (regardless of which instrument), the weekly fee for the first lesson is $25, and the multiple lesson discount rate of $20 is applied to every lesson after the first one in that week. For two students attending SCMC, each taking one half hour lesson per week, the tuition is $25 x 4 lessons plus $20 for 4 lessons, which totals $180.
Classes are paid for on a monthly basis; the first month is prorated, so that if a student is enrolled in the middle of the month, only the lessons from that week until the end of the month are charged. After signing up, the student is on continuous enrollment, until the lessons are permanently cancelled by the parent.
The scheduling is determined based on instructor availability, student availability, and room and instrument availability. We try our best to accomodate everyone's needs. Please contact the store to check on time slots available for lessons, and let us know what works best for you.
Our instructors are also performing musicians, and periodically, they will need to reschedule their lessons so they can perform. Students will be given as much advance notice as possible, and makeups will be scheduled at the soonest possible time.
Payments are due at the beginning of the month for that month. There is a late fee for tuition paid after the 10th of the month.
If the student is unable to attend a scheduled lesson, please cancel at least 24 hours in advance. We will reschedule a makeup lesson, ideally within that same week, to avoid disruptions in learning. All make up lessons for the month must be made up within two weeks of the end of that month, or they will no longer be available. Refunds are not given for missed classes. Neither refunds nor makeups are allowed for no shows.
If you play drums, we supply the drum kit. You need only bring your drumsticks, and any music. Piano students need only bring their music. Electric guitar students need only bring their guitar and music, we will supply the amp and cords. All other instruments must be brought by the student.
For both adults and children, learning a new instrument can be exciting, challenging, and sometimes frustrating. Keeping your instrument in good playing condition will go a long ways towards making the process more fun. If you have music you would like to learn, or that you like to listen to, talk with your instructor about it. We like to hear what you are interested in, so that we can incorporate it into your lessons.
